Turlough O'Carolan was Ireland's best known classical harp composer. His compositions continue to be played and recorded by some of the leading Celtic musicians from both sides of the Atlantic, as we will hear in this week's program.

Scotland's great composer and collector of songs, Robert Burns, was born January 25, 1759. Fans around the world celebrate all things Scottish on Burns Day, and we will honor his work with recordings of his songs by some of Scotland's finest singers.

The state of Illinois can boast having some of the great Irish musicians and bands among its natives and its immigrant residents. This week we feature not only Chicago's finest, but some music from downstate as well.

Traditional music is played all across Canada, though we hear mostly from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. This week we travel from east to west in search of music from each of Canada's provinces.

This week we feature highlights from a concert by fiddle player extraordinare Liz Carroll and Irish music's #1 guitar player John Doyle, recorded exclusively for Celtic Connections in April 2007 at the Southern Illinois Irish Festival.

We'll go back through the last few decades of Irish, Scottish, and English traditional music for this week's roundup of old favorites.

It's an all-Irish program this week in honor of Ireland's patron saint.

Maryland hammer dulcimer player Maggie Sansone founded her own record label for American Celtic musicians more than 20 years ago, and the label has produced an impressive catalog over the years. This week's program samples from the Maggie's Music roster.

Tune in this week for a preview of musicians who will be appearing at this year's Southern Illinois Irish Festival, April 25-27 in Carbondale, IL.
